Hurricane Harvey Relief

$25,000 Challenge!

A generous congregant has offered to match the first $25,000 donated by the rest of the congregation to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts!

In reponse to the catastrophic devastation in the Houston area caused by Hurricane Harvey, Beth Or has established a special fund to do our part to help as many victims as possible. Thousands of families have been displaced and require assistance with their basic needs.

We are committed to helping all those in need, not just those in the Jewish community. As Rabbi Hillel taught us, "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And, if not now, when?"  This is a time to act on our commitment to Tikkun Olam, and be there for others in their hour of need.

Rabbi Marx, Amy Abrams and our Social Action Committee Chairs, Susy Krimker and Margie Chachkin, will meet over the next few weeks to assess where our donations will make the most impact.  100% of all money collected will be distributed.

We encourage you to support this effort.  Click here to donate on-line, or send a check to the office, payable to Congregation Beth Or, with the memo "Hurricane Harvey Relief."
