Three part class taught by Rabbi Marx.
While it is an integral part of the scriptures of Israel, Psalms possesses certain traits which set it off from the rest of the Hebrew Bible. While some parts of the Hebrew Bible are described as the words of man and woman to one another, and others are seen as the words of God to humanity, the Psalms have the distinction that, to a degree not present in any other part of the Bible, they contain the words directed to God. Their words furnish us with a supreme example of our ancestors' search for and experience of a meaningful life. We will study the text and explore ways of deepening our own faith through Psalm chanting.
