About our Mussar II Teacher:
Susan Sussman has been studying Mussar with both Alan Morinis’s Train-the-Trainer program and with Rabbi Ira Stone’s Mussar Leadership Program.
Susan has been has been a life and business coach for more than 25 years and has been training coaches for over 20 years. She has been committed to a character-development approach in her coaching work and is delighted by the synchronicity that exists between coaching, coach training and Mussar. Susan is currently providing executive coach training for the U.S. Federal government.
Susan has been amazed and delighted to see Mussar practitioners use Middot, chevruta work, journaling and text study as a systematic way to engage in a journey of spiritual development. Mussar acts as a mirror, allowing practitioners to see their reflections more and more clearly and to use that knowledge to make informed choices about how they want to interact with others and the world.
Susan lives in Lafayette Hill, PA with her dog, Chloe, and her parrot, Peanut. She has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.
- The class will meet on Monday evenings from 7-8:30 at Beth Or. It will begin on 3/13/17 and run 13 weeks through 6/26/17. We meet together as a Va’ad (group) for 2 weeks in succession and then every other week. In the alternating weeks participants meet with a chevruta (learning partner) assigned on the basis of a questionnaire sent in advance.
- The course is suitable for all levels of participants because we all learn from each other, and because Mussar is the work of a lifetime: the more familiar we become with the Middot, the deeper our learning and spiritual practice becomes.
- The middot in A Season of Mussar II are Patience, Forgiveness, Simplicity, Lovingkindness, Strength and Faith. All class materials are available free-of-charge from the Mussar Institute website.
