What is Celebrations?
Celebrations is a program that provides opportunities for families to experience Shabbat together and for children who have special needs to have a Jewish educational experience designed for their learning styles. It is meant to create a welcoming, safe and spiritually inclusive program on Shabbat mornings. We believe that all are welcome to participate and enjoy the blessings of Shabbat.
We recognize that some families might not attend religious school and services due to the length and depth of the program. The Celebrations program is simple. We begin with a brief worship service, lead by our rabbinic intern, to be followed by kiddish and family activities based around a Jewish Holiday or theme.
DETAILS: Celebrations takes place on select Saturday mornings, after Torah Study. There is no fee to participate. We celebrate not only the blessings of our heritage but the uniqueness of all our members. Please contact the Beth Or office for more details.
What are parents saying about Celebrations?
"Being a part of the Celebrations Shabbat group has been a wonderful experience for each member of our family. We are able to connect with other families with similar issues in a safe, warm, fun and Jewish environment. The service is not a traditional one, but it is a very meaningful one. It is interactive and everyone gets to be a part of the service in their own way. We share our joys and struggles while learning more about Judaism and chanting prayers and singing songs and learning about the holidays with an active and fun group of people who understand and support each other. We look forward to coming to Celebrations each month and we hope other families will join us to see what it's all about."

The Celebrations program at Congregation Beth Or has been wonderful for my family. Having this opportunity to meet with other special needs family in a safe, loving environment has enabled both our girls to see that Beth Or accepts everyone and strives to make Judaism accessible for all. I encourage everyone to check out Celebrations and see if it's a good match for their family.
